January, 1995- President Melissa Hall, KD4VED

January, 1995 - President Melissa Hall cuts the ribbon on newly renovated W4NC club station, which includes new paneling, furniture, and a newly installed telephone link system with the Red Cross. A new antenna patch panel is also installed.

June, 1995 - FARC Hamfest held at the Dixie Classic Fairgrounds/Education building.

August, 1995 - W4NC earns DXCC mixed award.

October, 1995 - W4NC Contest team scores 502,000 points in the CQWW SSB Test, its highest score ever.

November, 1995 - ARRL confirms that W4NC has earned WAS and received certificate #440 in April of 1938. The WAC award was also credited, although there are records that indicate W4NC had already earned this award in 1937.

December 30, 1995 - The Forsyth Amateur Radio Club holds its first special event station at the Red Cross chapter House to celebrate its 65th Anniversary of the club and its special callsign, W4NC. HAPPY BIRTHDAY W4NC AND THE FORSYTH AMATEUR RADIO CLUB!!!


1994 President- Jack Hamby, KD4GYM

May, 1994 - Longtime FARC member Wally Bernath, K4UAS is featured in QST Magazine for 60 years of ARRL membership. June, 1994 - FARC Life Member Luther Hall passes away. W4NC trustee and longtime FARC member Connie Conrad K4BE passes away. FARC Hamfest held at Fairgrounds/Education Building.

October, 1994 - Shack renovation begins, and W4NC is closed to public for three months.

December, 1994 - Bob Gates, KJ4IC is named new W4NC trustee.


1993 President- Henry Heidtmann, N4VHK

January, 1993 - The Club has a phone installed in the shack for club business. The phone number? (910) 723-7388...

April 1993 - Steve Patterson WA3RTC is named Forsyth County EC

May, 1993 - Luther and Melissa Hall donate a new Kenwood TS-690AT, which becomes the heart of the HF shack, as well as HF and vhf antennas. W4NC finally gains 6m capability in the shack.

June, 1993 - Hamfest held at the Coliseum Annex


1992 President- Rick Grubbs, N4QLX

January, 1992 - John Stewart, KI4TB tapped as Forsyth County EC

March, 1992 -FARC constitution and By-Laws are updated by Pat Jones and Rick Batte.

May, 1992 - Rick Grubbs presents newly built Motorola repeaters to the Club.

June, 1992 - FARC Hamfest held at the Benton Convention Center.

September, 1992 - FARC members aid in rescue effort after Hurricane Andrew devastates the Miami area. Several club members cooked with the Baptist Mens' group, others delivered supplies to the affected areas, while others manned the Club Shack to communicate with the area and handle traffic.

February, 1991 - Packet cluster node installed at W4NC. The No-Code Tech license is introduced to Amateur Radio.

June, 1991 - Hamfest held at the Benton Convention Center

January, 1990 - Reese Felts, KB4FOX donates, among other things, a 5KW generator for the club to use during portable set ups and emergencies.
